Behind the Screen

I'm a self-taught website builder and organic media dabbler. I started building websites in 2015 while working with non-profits in college. Growing up on the Mobjack Bay, I consider it a privilege to work with the people who make up our small-town culture. Over the years, I’ve worked with many local businesses—you may remember me from Sibley's and the Mathews Visitor Center.
I started Mobjack Studio to help in getting Mathews commerce on the map and to offer affordable design for rural community businesses. Because I run the studio on the side, I'm able to keep my rates accessible. To pay the bills, I work as a business assistant for an oyster company and in property management.
I mostly work with Wix and WordPress, Square & Weebly but I am always open to learning new platforms. Pitch an idea, and let’s see if I’m a good fit for your needs.

Demystifying the Process
When you don't know where to start, things can seem overwhelming. I'm a big advocate for breaking down the process so you don't have to worry about how you'll reach your end goal. Here is an example of how I structure my website projects.
Step 1 - Your Needs
Step 2 - Your Vision
Step 3 - The Buildout
Step 4 - Ironing out the Kinks
Step 5 - You're Live!
Discuss your goals, assess your existing marketing assets and develop a plan together. If you have new dreams for your website such as online bookings, customer interface, or web forms, now is the time to share.
I'll start piecing your goals together visually and recommend what platform could work best for you if you don't have on already. We will exchange necessary information to get the foundation started for your new site such as photography, descriptions, services, pricing, your story, etc. I'll suggest templates and branding for your approval.
Next all the heavy lifting will occur on my end to build out your website from scratch. We will communicate back and forth as needed until I have completed 90% of the desktop version. You will get a first draft to share your feedback, make changes, and approvals.
After you give your first round of feedback, I'll complete the desktop version of your site and modify the mobile version. A second and third draft will be shared with you at the 99% completion mark of the project. Here we will pilot the site to make sure things are operating correctly.
Lastly, we will assign or transfer your domain, tidy up the SEO and hit publish! Your new site is live, and I'll be monitoring it with you for a few weeks to make sure everything is running as it should.
